Why are subs expected to cover extra periods?
Substitutes may be asked to cover additional classrooms during shortages. All OSTS substitutes must work the full teacher day and help with coverage as needed.
Where can new substitutes find additional help?
All non-degreed substitutes must complete the online SubSkills course at STEDI.org. Additional resources are also available there.
Why do I still get phone calls when I’m in a long-term sub position?
Accounts may not be linked, or not all days entered. Call the OSTS Service Department at 216.446.6787 for help.
Why do some teachers have incorrect titles or grade levels?
Districts manage this information. Report errors to the OSTS Service Department at 216.446.6787.
Will I be taken off the substitute list if I don’t work a certain number of days?
Enter non-work days if unavailable. Substitutes who never accept jobs may be deactivated but can be reactivated upon request.
Can job descriptions be more detailed?
Job codes come from the district. Teachers are encouraged to leave notes/lesson plans, though last-minute absences may not allow it.
